Why Cooking Methods Matter

Why Cooking Methods Matter

July 1, 2026
Previously, we shared a little about the ingredients that go into our meals… but ingredients are only part of the story. How food is cooked matters just as much as what goes into it. In many prepared food kitchens, meals are designed around efficiency: cooking in large batches, holding food hot for long periods of time, and using methods that prioritize speed. We take a different approach. Our meals are built using traditional cooking techniques like roasting, braising, and careful sautéing, which develop deeper flavor while preserving nutrients. Instead of relying on inexpensive refined oils, we cook with real fats like olive oil, coconut oil, and the natural fats that come from whole ingredients. We also avoid heat-and-hold cooking, where food sits hot for hours before being packaged. Instead, meals are cooled intentionally and designed to reheat beautifully at home. Seasoning follows the same philosophy. Rather than relying heavily on salt or sugar, we build balance using herbs, aromatics, citrus, and acidity. Even small decisions matter. From the surfaces we cook on to the materials we use throughout the kitchen, we’re intentional about keeping hot food away from plastic and relying instead on stainless steel, cast iron, and other durable, food-safe materials. These choices may seem small individually, but together they make a real difference in freshness, flavor, and how food supports your health. We cook the way we cook because the details matter. And we hope you feel that difference every time you sit down to enjoy one of our meals.
